About Us
AFUHTI is the name given to the Society for Research Enhancement and Promotion of Herbal Medicine in Africa. This common initiative group which is dedicated to herbal medicine has been duly registered, with certificate of registration number - Reg. No. NW/GP/30/11557 of Jan. 25th, 2008.
The main goal of Afuhti is to provide a rallying forum where herbal practitioners, botanist, pharmacologists, environmentalist, research fellows and economic operators in medicinal plants could meet to redress issues of common interest and contribute to the development and enrichment in the use of herbal medicine in Africa.
Our Areas of intervention include:
1. The cultivation of diverse species of medicinal plants, put into spot a research laboratory and other facilities that will facilitate research efforts in herbal medicine.
2. Cooperating with sister institutions both at home and abroad, in the field of research in medicinal plants and upon research, shall manufacture and put into spot, herbal medications that can in the opinion of the directors of Afuhti, be conveniently manufactured or dealt with.
3. AFUHTI has instituted an herbal health unit, which intends to follow-up the treatment of various pathogens and pandemic diseases affecting individuals in the society.
4. The organisation educates the general public on environmentally friendly activities, opportunities of income generation from African Herbal Medicine, including ways to avoid some social and health hazards affecting our local communities. This shall be facilitated through the use of lectures, conferences, training seminars and the media.
The head office of the institution is situated at Nta-afiti - Bawum. This association is piloted by:
i) Herbal Doctor Gerald Cheniwi - general coordinator/chief Herbalist
ii) Mr. Fuh Joseph Che - the delegate / director of operations
iii) Mr. Eugene Joseph Asombang being the technical director of Afuhti and
iv) Ms. Ukey Chen Lu - Chinese Representative.
We have a hand full of membership, and have employed a couple of herbal practitioners, including other auxiliary staff to meet up with the increasing needs of the people.
